Portfolio Index with Placeholder Image

Framework for Portfolio

Here is the framework for my portfolio website.

My Portfolio Index

Here is the layout for my index page. Designed as a site to showcase my work, examples of my work fade in and out in the tiles on the page. For now, I want the primary concern of the site to be an online portfolio for potential employers to visit. The secondary concern of the site is to attract freelance jobs.

Portfolio Target

After graduation, I would like to work in the St. Louis area at an advertising agency as a designer. Ideally, I would like to have a large portion of my work be from non-profit clients.

Story Board

My flash project will be an interactive web site introduction using a spin on the company name - Impression.

*Here are some potential characters for the interactive portion of this flash animation.

Flash Proposals

  • Proposal One: Many teenage and college students are involved in many activities, sometimes for the genuine desire to be part of an organization and sometimes for the T-shirt that comes with the membership. At the very least, most are excited when it comes to the part of the year when they can create their look for the year by the means of apparel. Tapping into this client base, my flash presentation will capture the sense of excitement that goes into ordering apparel. As an intro to the website, the intro will get the majority of Impression's clients excited for the website and make the website different from any other apparel website. The flash animation will be visually similar to the embroidered characters that appear on the website. In the animation, these characters will gain an identity (or give off an "Impression") though the process of picking out a T-shirt, getting an idea, and having a finished product.

  • Proposal Two: This flash animation taps into the same young client base. Instead of being the intro of the website, this animation makes use of new media used everyday by young adults. As a result, the animation gives the company a trendy vibe necessary to gain the trust of an identity-conscious group of consumers. As an e-card (or an online advertisement), this animation will be an interactive game that shoots to the Impression website. In this game, the user can pick a look for their character, the color of the T-shirt, and an image to put on the T-shirt. The results of the available combinations are comical, and the point of the game is to show how Impressions can help you form your group's identity.

  • Proposal Three: Unlike the previous animations, this animation draws from a different client base. Unlike the previous younger clients, this will interest corporate clientele in need of their identity on apparel such as knit polos. As a result, this animation will have more professional undertones. As a web ad, this animation will serve as an animated business card. With all of the necessary contact information, the ad will also have the same color scheme and identity as the website. When clicked, this animation shoots to the Impression web site.

Issues with PCs

I am having lots of issues with PCs. This is important to fix because most of my aunt's clients use PCs.

When I pull up the page on my Dell at home, it looks like the picture below. The .png files are not longer transparent. And more importantly, the background image (with the company logo) does not fit in the browser window. I attributed the browsing problem to the smaller screen resolution for the PC computer monitor.

So I started to remake the site with a background image of a smaller resolution. However, that did not help. The top of the logo is still cut off. The green background color does not show up and the shirt texture image does not center in the screen. Like this...

Just to note... on my Mac, the original page looks like this...

And the new page with the background image (size of 750px x 500px) looks like this...

Do you have any suggestions? I want to get these issues worked out before I continue updating the site with further php forms, ect. Thanks!
